Heart of Heritage Foundation is a humanitarian and spiritual organization incorporated in the State of New York, working through partners and volunteers across Nepal.
Our story
The foundation began the way most good work does — quietly, among a handful of people who kept turning up. A temple courtyard that needed sweeping. A stray dog that needed feeding. A girl whose school fees had run out three weeks before exams. None of it was a programme yet; it was simply what was in front of us.
Over time those errands became commitments, and the commitments needed a structure that could receive support from abroad honestly and account for every rupee. Heart of Heritage Foundation was incorporated in New York so that donors in the United States could give with the protection of 501(c)(3) status, while the work itself stays rooted where it belongs — in Nepali hands, in Nepali communities.
We are not a large organization and we are not trying to become one. We are trying to be a dependable one: five clear pillars, published accounts, and a receipt in your inbox before the day is out.
Directed gifts go where they were directed. Allocations and accounts are published annually.
Programmes are designed and run by Nepali staff and community user groups, not from abroad.
No photographs of suffering for fundraising. People appear on this site as they would wish to.
We commit to a site or a child for years, not for a campaign cycle.
The people accountable for the work
Leads the spiritual and cultural preservation work and chairs the allocations committee.
Oversees US governance, compliance and the annual transparency report.
Coordinates the five pillars with partner organizations across the valley and hills.
Responsible for donation reconciliation, receipts and the 501(c)(3) filing.
